A site located on the Southwestern flank of the resurgent dome. Casa Diablo is home to a 40MW geothermal plant. West of the plant itself is a small tree-kill localized along two small normal faults. Several fumaroles are located along these faults. Soil temperatures at these vents reach 200F. As is seen in the image above, deep-rooted Jeffrey Pine are killed in this area, while grasses flourish. However, the life cycle of the grasses are accelerated. This is seen above as the green grasses in the bottom of the image grade into red grasses (grass going to seed), and finally into brown dead/dying grasses at the top of the hill.
