We will only really get to one topic corresponding to this lecture: The periodicity of glaciations.

In chapter 19, the first few pges, up to p 551, should be review.

Note figure 19.9: which shows the last glacial cycle.

Look closely at fig B19.1 and related text. We will look in detail at the Oxygen isotopes in class and see how they are used as a proxy for the amount of water in the oceans, which in turn is a proxy for the amount of water in the ice sheets, which in turn says something about past climates. You should read pp 555-557 in detail, and look at the pictures and diagrams for the rest of the chapter.
